Greenville Federal Credit Union’s mission has always been to provide our members with opportunities to prosper, including our youth. Helping kids learn how to properly manage their money is a critical skill that will benefit them the rest of their lives.

Our Youth and Student Membership Programs are designed to help educate our young members about managing money within a financial institution, and to motivate them to save and spend their money wisely. Starting with a savings account, and then later with a checking account, our young members can practice saving and spending their own money, and making good financial decisions.

Youth Regular Share Savings Account (eligible for ages 0 – 17)+

It’s never too early to start teaching children smart financial habits and the value of money. Educating, motivating, and empowering kids to become regular savers will enable them to keep more of the money they earn throughout their lifetime.

  • Open a Youth Share Savings Account with a $5 deposit (minimum)
  • Receive a $5 Chick-Fil-A card upon opening a Youth Share Savings Account
  • Free Monthly Paper Statements

Youth Regular Share Checking Account (eligible for ages 13 – 100+)

Your credit union is the best place to start a checking account because we’re not-for-profit. That means kids have a safe, low cost place to keep their money while learning how to use it wisely.

  • Receive 2 movie tickets or 2 $5 Chick-Fil-A cards upon opening a Share Checking Account
  • Free Visa Debit Card
  • Free First Box of Checks
  • Free Monthly Paper Statements until the age of 18

Youth Share Term Certificate (eligible for ages 1 – 17)

Designed to teach young members about the power of compounding interest, our Youth Share Term Certificate provides a way for our youth members and their families to invest in a Certificate of Deposit.

Youth Membership requirements:

  • Join with an adult guardian.
  • Youth membership applications can be started at any branch location or online.
  • Tip: Be sure to have the youth’s social security card or birth certificate when ready to apply.
  • A Regular Share Savings Account with a $5 minimum balance to is required to establish and maintain membership for individuals age 17 or younger. At age 18 Youth Membership updates to General Membership.

  • Cast your vote at our Annual Membership Meeting 

+A Regular Share Savings Account with a $25 minimum balance is required to establish and maintain membership for individuals age 18 or older.  A Regular Share Savings Account with a $5 minimum balance to is required to establish and maintain membership for individuals age 17 or younger.  Applicants must be eligible for credit union membership.
